The Department of Anaesthesiology at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, is a cornerstone of comprehensive patient care, advanced medical education, and academic excellence. As part of a premier tertiary care teaching institution, the department provides 24×7 anaesthesia services—covering routine, complex, emergency, and critical care procedures—led by a highly skilled team comprising senior anaesthesiology faculty, senior residents, and postgraduate trainees.

The department offers the full spectrum of anaesthesia techniques including general anaesthesia, spinal and epidural blocks, regional and peripheral nerve blocks, monitored anaesthesia care (MAC), deep sedation (TIVA), and local anaesthesia. All services are tailored to meet the specific physiological and surgical needs of each patient. Our state-of-the-art operation theatres are equipped with modern anaesthesia workstations, advanced patient monitoring systems, ultrasound-guided block facilities, fibreoptic bronchoscopes, and video laryngoscopes—ensuring precision, safety, and comfort.

We provide anaesthesia care across all surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology, neurosurgery, urology, plastic surgery, ENT, and paediatric surgery. The department also operates a well-equipped Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU), an active acute pain service (including PCA pumps and labour analgesia), and a multidisciplinary Pain Management Clinic for chronic pain and palliative care.

Our department delivers round-the-clock resuscitation support throughout the hospital. We are recognized as an AHA International Training Centre for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and are also Indian Resuscitation Council Federation (IRCF) -accredited training site for Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS) and Comprehensive Cardiopulmonary Life Support (CCLS) programs.

Academically, the department offers NMC-recognized MD Anaesthesiology program and accredited fellowships in Regional Anaesthesia & Acute Pain Medicine and Trauma Anaesthesia & Critical Care. We conduct regular teaching sessions, skill-based simulations, and workshops. Our faculty are actively involved in clinical research, publications, and quality improvement initiatives.
