Anatomy is a core subject in the study of medical sciences. The department of Anatomy in Dayanand Medical College and Hospital teaches one hundred professional students of MBBS, hundred Nursing students and also students of various paramedical courses.
Located on the ground floor of College building, the department presently has a professional team of seven faculty members and supported by technical team of Twelve people. The young and enthusiastic team is facilitating medical education by using innovative teaching methodologies to make the subject interesting to motivate students.
The department has an air-conditioned dissection hall which can accommodate one hundred and fifty students. Computer assisted learning with advanced software helps them in understanding human anatomy better. The histology lab can accommodate one hundred students. The histology preparation lab has fully automated processing machine to make slides. The lecture theatre of the department is air-conditioned and equipped with latest audiovisual aids & multimedia. The museum of the department is one of the best museums of the country with a walled mounted viewing gallery for radiology. Our research lab has digital microscopes with latest software for advanced research purposes.
The department has been running the body donor programme for more than fifteen years. All the cadavers in the department are donated voluntarily which speaks about the success of this programme. To keep the bodies, the department has walk-in mortuary refrigeration room, which can freeze cadavers up to -30C of temperature.
To create awareness about body and organ donation, we conduct regular outreach programme for school children (class X and above) where we highlight the importance of body and organ donation and later have an interactive session with the students.
Our bone bank facility is not only catering to our students but also helping postgraduate students of other colleges.
The department of Anatomy is actively associated with other departments like ENT, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedics etc for conducting cadaveric workshops and CME Programs.
