Dr Mahesh Satija is Professor in the Department of Community Medicine, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana. He has over 19 years of experience as a Medical teacher, Researcher and Public health expert. He completed his graduation (MBBS) from Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore and Postgraduation (MD) in Community Medicine from Government Medical College, Patiala, Punjab.
He is a life member of various scientific associations such as IAPSM, IPHA, EFI, BPNI, IAAH, IMSA and Health Population & Perspectives (NIHFW, New Delhi). He is also a Fellow of International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA). He has been the Vice-president and executive member of governing body of North Zone IAPSM and IAPSM-Punjab chapter and currently holds the position of Vice-Chairman STF (NTEP) Punjab and treasurer of Indian association of Adolescent health (IAAH)-Punjab Chapter. He has published 46 articles in International & National journals. He has attended over 100 National/Zonal/State conferences, workshops and trainings and presented various papers and guest lectures.
Dr Satija was awarded Prestigious Prof. Y.L. Vasudeva Oration during NZIAPSMCON2024 held at ESI Medical College, Faridabad. He has organized / coordinated / imparted many state/district level conferences trainings / workshops and has been Senior investigator for national level surveys. He has been Co-investigator for ICMR Task force study on consumption pattern of carbonated soft drinks of Indian population at different times of the year (Report published by ICMR, 2011) and senior investigator for baseline evaluation of IMNCI in Distt Kaithal, Haryana. He has been member of State Surveillance monitoring Team (SST) for HIV Sentinel Surveillance (HSS) in Punjab state - by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) since 2010. He also participated in verification of Sub-National claims for progress towards TB free status in India, 2020, 2021and 2022 jointly conducted by IAPSM, ICMR-NIE and NIRT and was also awarded for his contributions by the MD- National Health Mission Punjab and Director Health Services Punjab. He was also awarded with Best Poster Award on the work “Excess mortality during the COVID-19 pandemic in a rural area of Punjab” during 3rd IAPSM Young Leaders’ National Conclave at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
