On the occasion of World Hypertension Day, a special screening camp was organized at the Rural Health Center, Pohir, on 17th May 2025. This year’s theme, “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer,” highlighted the global call to action for accurate monitoring and management of blood pressure to prevent long-term health complications.
The camp focused on the early detection and awareness of Hypertension and Diabetes, two major silent threats to public health. The initiative was conducted under the expert guidance of Dr. Surinder Pal Singh (Associate Professor cum MOH), with dedicated support from Dr. Tasleem Arif (Senior Resident, HDHI) and Dr. Harmanjeet Kaur (Lady Medical Officer), who collectively screened around 100 attendants accompanying patients.
To further strengthen community engagement, an awareness lecture was delivered, emphasizing the importance of preventive health practices and lifestyle modifications. Additionally, educational pamphlets were distributed among attendees to reinforce key health messages and promote routine health check-ups.
This initiative reflects the critical role of preventive healthcare in rural communities and the ongoing efforts to empower individuals with knowledge and tools to take charge of their health.
