Free Eye Screening Camp in the border town of Ferozpur, Guru Har Sahai

Department of Ophthalmology, DMC&H conducted an eye screening camp in the border town of Ferozpur, Guru Har Sahai on 22nd March.

During the camp, we screened over 400 patients. A significant numberÔÇöaround 75ÔÇô80ÔÇöwere found to have advanced cataracts requiring surgical intervention, highlighting the large unmet need for eye care services in these underserved border areas.

Over the past one month, these patients were brought to DMC in three different batches. Around 55 cataract surgeries have been successfully performed by Dr Priyanka Arora, Professor and Dr Ritesh Verma, Assistant Professor from department of eye.

All patients have been safely transported back, and their follow-up is being actively carried out by our team in Guru Har Sahai itself, ensuring continuity of care.

This experience has been truly humbling and has reinforced the importance of outreach initiatives in bridging the gap in healthcare access.
