Dr. Gurvinder Kaur is a highly esteemed, dynamic, and visionary Professor and Head, Department of Ophthalmology at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, with over 23 years of extensive, dedicated, and impactful teaching and clinical experience.

A versatile, meticulous, and compassionate surgeon, she specializes in wide spectrum of ophthalmic surgeries which includes advanced cataract surgeries (Phacoemulsification), managing complicated cataract procedures, complex glaucoma care (Trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices) and delicate pediatric ophthalmology (Congenital cataract, squint correction etc). With a passionate commitment to inclusive, community-driven eye health, she ensures that high quality surgical and medical care is accesible to all..

A brilliant and award-winning scholar, she completed her MBBS from Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana in 1999, earning the Best Graduate Award and distinctions in four foundational subjects. She pursued her MS (Ophthalmology) from Government Medical College, Patiala in 2003, establishing a solid, academically rigorous foundation.

Dr. Kaur received cutting-edge, skill-enhancing training in Phacoemulsification at I-Care Eye Hospital, Noida, and specialized Pediatric Ophthalmology training through the prestigious ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital Program and Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana.

She is honourably nominated to the AIOS Presidential Committee of Teachers in Ophthalmology for her inspiring leadership and academic excellence. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was awarded the “Distinguished Ophthal Professor of India 2024” at FOTI 2025, PGI Chandigarh.

A dedicated and innovative educator, she is formally trained in Basic Medical Education, AETCOM, and CISP, empowering the next generation of doctors. With over 30 influential publications and 60+ insightful presentations, she is a widely respected academic contributor across national and international platforms. She also serves as a critical editor and discerning peer reviewer for several renowned scientific journals in ophthalmology.
