About Doctor
Dr. Jaspinder Pratap Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, with a strong academic, medicolegal, and research background. He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Amritsar, followed by MD in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology from Government Medical College, Amritsar. During his postgraduate training, he was awarded the Gold Medal in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, in 2021. He subsequently qualified DNB in Forensic Medicine in the November–December 2024 session.
He has served as a Senior Resident in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Government Medical College, Amritsar, for three years, gaining extensive experience in clinical forensic medicine, medicolegal practice, forensic pathology, and autopsy examination. His professional experience includes handling and conducting medicolegal examinations involving mechanical violence, sexual assault, and cases falling under the POCSO Act. He has conducted and assisted in more than 1,000 autopsies and prepared more than 500 medicolegal reports, including expert board opinions in complex medicolegal cases. His experience also encompasses autopsies in custodial deaths, alleged torture-related deaths, deaths associated with gang violence, and deaths resulting from various forms of mechanical violence.
His academic and professional interests extend beyond routine medicolegal practice, with particular emphasis on forensic anthropology and criminology. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to research and has contributed to approximately 50 publications in regional, national, and international indexed journals. He has presented original research papers, posters, and case reports at various national and regional conferences in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. His current research activities focus particularly on emerging areas of forensic anthropology and criminology.
Dr. Singh is actively involved in scholarly publishing and academic peer review. He serves as a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Public Research in Medicine and Health and has contributed as a peer reviewer for original research articles submitted to various PubMed- and Scopus-indexed national and international journals.
He is a Permanent Life Member of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine (IAFM), Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (PAFMAT), and the Society for Prevention of Injuries & Corporal Punishment (SPIC). In recognition of his academic and professional contributions, he was awarded Membership of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS), New Delhi, in October 2023.
His professional interests encompass forensic pathology, medicolegal autopsy, clinical forensic medicine, forensic anthropology, criminology, and medicolegal aspects of injury and death investigation. Through his academic, clinical, research, and editorial activities, he is committed to advancing forensic medical education and contributing to evidence-based forensic practice.
