Community Medicine (SPM)

Department of Community Medicine, DMC&H was started under the leadership of Dr. A.S. Malhotra in 1971. The department is located in College Campus and is being run under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Anurag Chaudhary. The department has one Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Pohir and one Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Shimlapuri for providing home based comprehensive Health Care to the Community as well as Teaching and Training the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical & Nursing Students. Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) and Rural Training Health Centre (RHTC) cover 50,000 and 30,000 population respectively.

The postgraduate course in Community Medicine was started in 1996, under the stewardship of   Dr. R K Sachar. Currently, three MD students are admitted to the department every year. The department is carrying out Family Adoption Programme. Every year a new village is adopted and comprehensive health services is provided.
